AMSTERDAM - Marco Borsato en Anouk hebben donderdag in de Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam de meest prestigieuze prijzen gekregen tijdens het Edison Music Awards-gala. Anouk werd onderscheiden als beste zangeres nationaal en Marco Borsato als beste zanger nationaal.


Tijdens de 44e editie van het gala kreeg Rene Froger een Edison voor zijn volledige oeuvre. Mark Knopfler, die eerst successen vierde als zanger en gitarist van de Britse popgroep Dire Straits en in de afgelopen jaren een eveneens succesvolle solocarrière opbouwde, kreeg de oeuvreprijs in de categorie internationaal.

Blof kreeg wegens het album Blauwe ruis de onderscheiding voor beste groep nationaal. Venice ontving het beeldje voor beste groep internationaal voor de cd Welcome to the rest of your life. Norah Jones viel wegens haar album Come away with me in de prijzen als beste zangeres internationaal. Robbie Williams kreeg een Edison als beste zanger internationaal.

In totaal werden er in zestien categorieën Edisons uitgedeeld. In de minder prestigieuze Edisoncategorieën vielen de volgende artiesten in de prijzen: Relax (beste nieuwe artiest nationaal), Avril Lavigne (beste nieuwe artiest internationaal), Brainpower (beste r&b/ hiphop), Sophie Ellis Bextor (beste dance), Within Temptation (beste dvd), Queens of the Stone Age (beste alternative), Di-rect (publieksprijs beste single) en Blof (publieksprijs album van het jaar).

Maybe this will help a little. It is a half-ass Dutch translation (meaning not translated word for word)... I used a translation website.. but some words obviously didn't translate...But hopefully we Americanos can get an idea of what the article says..

AMSTERDAM - Marco Borsato and Anouk have received the most prestigeous prizes last Thursday at the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam during the Edison Music Awards-gala. Anouk was decorated as best female performer and Marco Borsato as best male performer in the category 'national'.

..It just occured to me that VENICE deserves special recognition. For they are the epitomy of all that Venice Beach CA.. is, was and always will be.
