Hiiiiiiiiiihaaaaaaaa,
I'm a big fan of Bruce Springsteen and guess what, October 22th in Ahoy', right here under my nose. First it would be in Gelredome but that's cancelled I think. I don't understand, because he easely can fill a stadion and now he choose for Ahoy. And the funniest thing is we don't even know about it. (?) I'll take a day of then and I'll will be present all day with the soundcheck etc. and I will not leave all day. They must drag me out, because I will glew myself on the floor of the Sportspalace.
:D :D :D

Hey what about a support act by Venice. They are in the country, so that would be great. So guys, call Bruce!!!

Unfortunately, Springsteen never has an opening act on his bill, because he plays a three hour show himself.

Yes I know, I have seen him already, but you never know. The guys already as done something with Bruce, so they are not new for Bruce. It was just a suggestion, would be great though.

Any idea of when the ticketsales will start?? I saw Bruce with E-Street Band in Gelredome, think it was in 1999? Anyhow, it was extremely cool to see him live!!!
Yesterday I bought the special edition of "The Rising". The CD is wrapped in a hardcover booklet, very nice item to have.
Gonna inform one of my friends now about Bruce coming back to Holland. Went with her to Gelredome several years ago and I'm sure she'll be thrilled to see him live again also ;)

A few minutes after I asked about when the ticketsales would start I received a message from the Mojo mailinglist. Translated the most important things roughly into English.
"Be sure to be there in time on Saturday August 31, 10.00am to buy your tickets for the only-once concert of Bruce Springsteen and The E-Street band on Tuesday October 22 in Ahoy, Rotterdam.

Arrive at 10am and you're guaranteed not to get any seats. I'm not sure how it works in Holland, but out here, when a major show goes on sale, people spend the previous night in line. Get there any less than two hours before saletime, and there's no chance of you getting to the front before it sells out.
Sometimes ticket outlets do random wristbands at 8am, to discourage the overnighters. If that's the case, you still need to get there early enough to participate in that. And bring as many friends with you as you can convince to go (offer to buy them breakfast!), so that the person who winds up with the wristband closest to the front of the line is the one who buys the tickets.

As I'm going to the postoffice in Heerenveen and that city isn't that big, it won't be necessary to get in line the night before. I'm gonna be there at about 8.00am though, so I'll be one of the first persons who can order a ticket. The postoffices all are attached to the Ticket Service computer mainframe. From 10.00 on they will be able to get into that computer and order the tickets for the people who are in line. When you're in line the names will be written down, so first comes first. Only frustrating moments are when too many postoffices are calling in to the mainframe and the system breaks down. If that happens in the whole of Holland it doesn't matter that much, but if only some cities are having problems. Like for example Heerenveen wouldn't be able to call in for a while while in the rest of the cities people still would be able to buy the tickets. Man, totally freaked out when it happend TWICE with the Bon Jovi shows overhere in 2000 AND 2001!! To make a long story short, I've seen Bruce live several years ago, and for those tickets we just called the Ticket Service. I have to admit, it was close to sold out and we were lucky that Bruce did two shows instead of one, but we got our tickets. This time it's only one show, so I'm gonna be early in line now ;)

I think also at the postoffices it will be a madhouse, because we only have about 10.000 tickets, so get there real early. I think at Ahoy lots of people will lay down the night before in sleepingbacks and I think it will be sold out in a few minutes. I also think a maximum of tickets per person will be the rule, because lots of people want 10 or more. So I think it will be a maximum of 4 per person. Years ago I stood in line about 07.00 in the morning and when it was my turn, I had the last tickets. Don't call the ticket service, you hear, don't call, because now you will not get through. Get your butt to the postoffices really early, that's your only chance. Maybe I see you there Paula.

We already have the first person now lying in front of the pay desk of Ahoy. That really can get something tomorrow morning.

Oh, come on, you probably have a backstage-pass, just for working there
If not, you can always try the Mentos-trick (remember the commercial?) Just put a bandana on your head, pick up a flightcase, look really cool and just walk right in. Worked for me a few times, even without the flightcase. :p

I don't have a backstage pass, why do you think I layed down all night in my sleepingback in front of the postoffice. This time we couldn't make reservations for tickets. Although I'm working here, that doesn't mean we come everywhere we want. Everything depends on the organisation and management team of the artist. They say what is allowed or not. With the TMF-Awards we weren't even allowed to be present at the sound check. When the organisation says no, then Ahoy has nothing to say. And I have to pay and wait for tickets just like other people. But this time I'm really trying very hard to get through to him, because I want him to sign my guitar. I really hope I can manage this, but we will see.

Guess what, I got in the newspaper with my picture, laying in the front of the postoffice with my sleepingbag. It was fun, I can tell you. I would do that again if needed. For Venice it's not necessary yet, but if it would I would do it for them too.

No, but I'll try to scan it at work. It will be difficult, because it's a black and white picture.

Ok, it took a while, but here's my picture in the local newspaper of Goeree Overflakkee (don't ask:p ) waiting with my sleepingbag in front of the postoffice for tickets of Bruce. I'm the one left.

Well, I'm calling from heaven, because I'm dead now:D
It was fantastic:cool:   I had the best place on earth, first rowe, right in fron of Bruce. He was standing in front of me in about 4 metres. I already was in and was present at the sound check, whoooohooo. He did The River, Human Touch and The Rising. After he was finished, we took our places in front and then the doors were opened and the crowd came running in. We had to sit down, what was a great idea, because then we couldn't smah each other. After a while we had to stand and than I got a push (the whole first rowe) and almost felt over the fence. People from the back were trying to get forward, but it was only a one timer, lucky me. I was bit afraid that it would be to difficult for me to stand in the front with all those people behind me, but it went great. No pushing and I had enough space. Only 3 people passed out. When he started the whole Ahoy' went crazy and rocked on his fundaments. It was so great. I first wasn't that positive about his new album, because I like the others more, but now he has done them live and especially with his wife Patty men what a voice she has), I really like them more now. He played almost for 3 hours without stopping and he went crazy all the time. He rocked like hell, like me:D He wasn't swetting normally, it was flowing of his body. When he clapped his hands we all were wet.
What a month, twice Venice, once Bruce whoooohoo.

Hey Cool, a co-venice-and-springsteen-fan!!! :)
I too was at the Ahoy show, only I was about halfway the field back. Still rocked though. And I fully agree with what you said about "The Rising", it doesn't sound all that great on the album it self, but the songs live rock the house one by one. What he did with Empty Sky was just... HEAVEN :) I mean even though the songs lyrics are somewhat depressing, he didn't really express that in the melody on the album. But the acoustic live version, with Patti and himself on harmony in the bridging parts, is just plain magic.
I went to Cologne and Arnhem about 3 years ago, and I must admit I liked this show a lot better. He did about every classic song I never thought I'd hear live EVER... I mean, who thought he'd do a piano version of "For You''? That just did it for me, from then on I was sure that concert was the best I'd ever seen :)
And I hope he (and the Lennons of course) keep amazing me, musicwise :)

PS To Proof I'm not making my Springsteen mania up, translate (freely :)) my nickname to dutch :))
Hi Bruce-fans
For you who didn't get a ticket to the show.....
It seems that Bruce told in his show that he'll be back in the Spring.
Someone who's been there, told that on the radio this morning.
So maybe next time you get lucky and hopefully you don't have to wait that long.

Hey,
A couple of days ago I read somewhere(thougt it was "Be True") that bruce would do a more extensive europe tour next year. Steve said something 'bout the summer of 2003 in an interview, and Bruce said "See you in the spring" at the end the Ahoy show. In the Metro of last thursday someone mentioned that if he'd be back, he probably pick a larger hall :)
I'm still hoping he'll do multiple shows here, since I'm too lazy to travel around the world to see him :D

Yes, the Christmas shows, can't wait till they are back. I miss them already. Sounds stupid doesn't it. They're so great, I never had that with any other band or artist. Also not with Bruce. I'm a big fan, but if I have to choose, then it will be Venice.

I couldn't agree more.
Altough it's nice for Kipp, Pat, Michael and Mark to be at home with their frends and family :)
But ehm don't you think it's rather quiet here without those beautiful voices.
But we can count the weeks till their back :D :D
and than have fun again rotfl
