Well, this used to be the area to talk about "Welcome to the Rest of Your Life," but nobody's posted here for over a year, and for good reason. There's just nothing more to say about a CD that's 2 years old.
So I've changed it into a forum to talk about Venice's next album. Once we start getting news about how it's shaping up, we can start discussing those tidbits. And then after it's released, we can argue over favorite songs, and criticize things to make Michael angry, and all that good stuff.
But in the meantime, how about a conversation about the direction you'd like the new album to take? It won't affect anything. The guys aren't going to read our posts and gather musical ideas from them. It's just a casual topic to keep ourselves busy during this lag period.
So who'd like to start?

Matt, what is known about the new album?
When are they going to the studio?
Where?
I have heard a comment about the direction for the new album being more along Born And Raised, true?
When do they anticipate having the album completed?
Will it be on the Sony label?
Will it be marketed in the USA or will it be similar to WTTROYL?

These are all good questions. The truth is, it's a little early to answer them properly. Venice has only written a handful of songs so far, and now that they're back home, they're getting ready to sit down and hammer out some more. The first few that they did reportedly do have a "Born and Raised" feel, but that doesn't mean that the next ones necessarily will.
As for the specifics of recording it, I don't believe those decisions have been made yet. They'll deal with that kind of stuff when they're further along in the process.

About the new album.... I'm sure that it's going to be good, like all their other albums: pure, acoustic, claer, honest and full of energy, warmth and harmony:thumbsup:
And I hope the guys don't forget - next to Kipp and Mark - a solo for Pat and Michael:cool:
Kipp, Michael, Pat and Mark, I wish you have the right spirit for making a good new album, and know that your fans support you And..........:( just have to wait 'till you're ready, to hear the new songs
Just keep on going!
Greeting, Aafke

men.. i'm looking forward to the new cd. Hope there will be solo songs for mark and kipp... Pat is also nice but not for him to do them on stage...Something like Born and raised would be fine! Some close harmony songs. Also a couple of gitar solo's for michael... a cd where you can sing and dans a lot and a cd wich comes close tot the heart... but that's whats venice does all the time

Can't wait to hear more about the new album!!
I'd love for it to be kinda like Born & Raised (my favorite album to date), but I'm sure I'll like it anyway. I mean, it's Venice, what's not to like?? ;)
I do hope Pat will have a solo on the new album again... I love Language of the Heart so much...
Guys - I know I've said this before, but I'm going to say it again: Good luck writing and recording the new album!! Geoff and I are with you every step of the way!! :)

Oh boy, that's a hard one..........
What I really hope...........a song from Mark like "Reeling in the years"of Steely Dan. This song is my old time favorite......I know he can do it, and it fits him. Just one song with that funky, soul beat.......:dancing:

I also can't wait until the new album will be released. An album in "Born and Raised"-style would be great. This was the first CD I had... and it is still very special for me... because the music on it addicted me to Venice :)
A solo from Pat would be phantastic. I love Language of the heart very much
Whishing the boys good luck with the recording..I'm pretty sure that the CD will be fabulous like all the others!!!
Looking forward to the Album release and to see the boys again in Germany .. too bad it's such a long time until then.

Hi you all!
I read a lot of requests for a song with a leadrole for Pat on the new album. And I can't do anything else than supporting that.
Like I said before Venice is a pretty new phenomenon to me. This weekend I bought 'Welcome ...' and I too was SO pleasantly surpised by 'Language of the Heart'!
*sigh*!
What a voice!
I want more - more - more - of that!

Ofcourse i would also love to hear Pat do a solo again.
I think i`m not one of many, but i very much like the self titled album.
i love the more up tempo songs and would love some songs like One quiet day,All my life, One word, but im also just as fond of songs like Again,People laugh and the only love.
So a mixture of songs like those please ;)

Sounds like a lot of similar requests - Pat Solo and more Born and Raised. A solo from all of them is always in order! I would love to hear more harmonizing or possibly an acoustic album. I've always been fond of LIVE albums too, they bring out the energy of the crowd. A combination of upbeat or slow, or even a double album would be nice. ANd then there's the BEST OF - With all the hits over the years, I'm sure there could be a variety of BESTS - with a variety of opinions on the topic of which are the best. Let's see - that sounds like another topic.
Can't wait to see what the band has in store for us!

On a letter I just received from Theater "de Tamboer" in my hometown, they wrote that the release of the CD is expacted in oktober. Their coming to this theatre on the 19th of November for a autumn/winter tour
And of course a double album is no problem

That's an awful long time to wait ... :loopy:
but: I've instantly blocked November 19th on my calender.

well this is one spoon who hopes to hear new songs, and yes, we all want pat!!! probably the best thing i would like to see the guys do is throw in some sweet accapella somewhere in the CD. remember the beach boys doing "sloop john B"? kinda like that. as always, less is more... but more pat!rotfl

Why not a little extra cd with only Pat songs? Let's call it Pat Sounds. :)
Nah, really looking forward to the new cd. If it's going to be anything like Born & Raised, it's going to be fine.
Looks like y'all just want Venice to get their new album "down Pat." ;) :p:
I know that's a weak pun, but, hey, some habits I drop & others I come to rely on.

Hi everyone,
And here is some more crooked English.
I've thought about how the new album should sound like, and here's what I've come up with. Whenever I listen to the Theme from Midnight Cowboy, I picture myself driving a convertible (don't laugh), I'm on some highway in the middle of nowhere, the sky is blue, the sun is shining and I'm feeling happy. Is it the harmonica, the violins? I can't explain.
Marvin Gaye (What's going on), Gordon Haskell (How wonderful you are), Van Orly (Calling out), Train (Drops of Jupiter/Something more), Jerry Garcia (Love in the afternoon), Prince and...and... etc., there are so many songs that make you feel good.
Venice music also got that 'vibe', so give us more! Let's hear Kipp on harmonica, Pat playing ukelele(?!?), Marky with his incredible voice and groove, and Michael, the maestro himself, the man with the musical ideas, inspiration and enthusiasm. Their harmonies, humor, spirit... I just wish that the making of this album will bring out the best in everyone. Yeah, getting in the convertible-mood already!
Venice = :band: , :dancing: , :rockout: , :drooling: , :jumping: , :clap:
P.S.: Thought of another thread (to tie us over till November). Let's come up with a catchy title for the album! Good idea, Matt, Randy?

Heya!
You are always more than welcome to start your own new thread! So if you want everyone to think along about a cool new title, please go right ahead. I for one think it's a good idea!
Crooked English? Yeah-eh-heh, right. :) ;)
(Good choice btw, Train: DOJ/Something More.)

Hi yall,
I was kinda hoping that the new album had a more 'rough' feel to it than WTTROYL. Yes, maybe more Born and Raised.
I didn't really like the modern/poppy feel of WTTROYL, I was sort of waiting for Mark or Kipp to start singing with a Cher-like electro-vibrato-voice... ;) We don't want that, do we.
Shoot me
But as always in discussions like this one: it's easy talking about it instead of doing it ourselves.:)
