MARK: “This is a song I just had to write, about having a major fallout with my best friend. We were always together and more like brothers than anything else. Without going into detail, I hope someday he can see the truth in what happened and we can resume where we left off.”

MICHAEL: “I wrote the bridge on this one in my hotel room in Amsterdam the day before the tracking session. I felt it needed a release in order to really pay off by the end.”

KIPP: “Cool song. Ambrosia meets Toni Braxton meets Venice.”

What are your thoughts about this song?

Love the soulful touch Mark always gives to his songs. The fact that it is autobiographical gives it that personal touch, which gives it an intimate feel. It is pure and honest, which seems to be such a Venice trait.

Soul, beautiful harmonies....suchs a stong melodie...
I think the bridge could be a bit stronger(I don't really get the right feeling at that point), live it sound a lot better. Than you feel the pain/struggle.

I'm trying to get the vibe of the whole CD...but I don't get it right now....although I really would like to have a different feeling. But Rewind is an awesome song....pfffff....I danced on the groove, and it feels perfect. I never had an argument with my best friend, I have more best friends...but I realy can feel the pain, and the wish to rewind.....and I hope I never have this feeling towards my best friend. I like the groove of this song, very very much. I'm a soul girl, and this is a soul song. WONDERFUL feeling....not Venice-like, but Marky...and that's just great.

Best song of the album, best vocal performance. Kipp, Michael, Pat and Mark all have beautiful voices, but Mark's voice really is the best one for a solo performance.

Wow, the reach of Mark's voice is amazing - it seems he can sing every 'move' he has in his head - GREAT !!

Such a true story........sometimes you really like to rewind.....but on the other hand, you can learn from a step and it makes you stronger for the future !

this song made my cry, i always thought looking forward was the best way, but lisstening to rewind over and over again, i'm thinking of my best friend, i last saw her about 3 years ago, and because of other people we had a falling out, were still not on speaking terms, and i hate it, but maybe one day when we are both ready for it..... i miss talking to her, i miss hanging out with her.etc etc

The first words in the lyric, " try as I might I know it's never gonna be the same" touched me enormously!!! I had to swallow, because it reminds me of a brawl (a few weeks ago)with someone who stand near to me. Hope some day we can talk about it, when the time is right.

Beautiful song, with a great soul voice of Mark....in it!! simple and significant!!

I agree with you, although I haven't heard the album but I've been lucky enough to hear some of the new songs live and boy I loved "Rewind" from hello, my favorite of the new bunch so far!

It reminds me a little of the 70's motown "slow dance" songs on the radio when I was in High School...complete with ooooh oooohs in the beginning! And Mark's soulful vocals are right in there with Smokey Robinson or Marvin Gaye IMO...

I don't know what Mark's fallout was about with his friend, but I have friends I don't talk to any more cuz we had nasty fights re: politics -- all too common these days as our country is very divided right now with Bush and the war and all that, it's very sad, this song really resonates with me.

I believe with real friends everything mixes! It's not worth the fight when the friendship is pure and honost. Would be pretty boring if you would agree on everything. But I guess that's just the Dutch way, for which we are b.t.w. critized abroad all the time. (Mostly right-winged Americans who think we all do drugs ;) )

Right winged Americans despise everybody but right winged Americans!! Don't even get me started on them, the entire world is the enemy to those nutsbags!

While I'm ranting, I'll throw in an unrelated rant about not being able to buy this fab new Venice CD in Venice CA while you all can get one thousands of miles away. That just seems kind of screwed up from my point of view, I understand the contractual whatever record company blah blah blah but I sure don't LIKE it.

Also the CD was recorded there and it IS called Amsterdam after all, so OK you guys can get first crack but jeez I WANT ONE TOO!

Lucky the MySpace has a couple of songs up. I love REWIND!!

beautifull song, remains in your head after 1 or 2 times...
The lyrics are so recognizable, I think everyone has memories of such an argument.. It can be frustrating to lose a good friend over something stupid..
Hope Mark get's his friend back...

This song stuck in my head ever since the first time I heard it... I've caught myself humming or singing it many times ever since I got the album... Great vocals, Mark has an amazing voice!! :) I can also really relate to the lyrics... :)

This song has it all: Soul, sensitivity, wanting to move to the groove...
And when you hear (and see!) it in concert, I swear, you will need oxygen!

You would think that anyone who had had a fall-out with Mark would come running back after being serenaded to like this, but I guess things are not always that simple and people are complicated (and sometimes the people that surround them are even more complicated.) Crazy world!

All the songs on this cd are great...but Rewind is my favorite because

I love the way it starts, with the ooohs
It's just a great song with great lyrics
I witnessed this friendship over many years between Mark and his friend that this song is written about. It makes it that much more poignant because I know how painful it was/is. And when I see and hear Mark sing it, I feel that sadness all over again...but, maybe some day they will rewind...there was a lot of love there

Hmmm maybe it's never gonna be the same, but we've make a beginning. That's nice....!! And very exciting to me and him.

daryl i understand it gives a song an extra dimension if you witnessed it yourself.
I can really feel the pain mark has in this song because I had the same problems. It's really bad to lose someone you love and you just want to go back in time. You can try to pretend it never happened but that doesn't work.
That's why I fell in love with this song. It's honest and I love Mark's voice
