Okay, here's another short version from me.....
First there was the instore in Vanderveen in Assen. I arrived at about 12:00 at the central station. Had a sort of map from the golden internet pages with me, but still I didn't know if I was walking the right way to the store. So I thought, let's ask someone if I'm walking the right way. "VanderVeen? That's straight ahead, 300 metres from here" That simple huh? Well, that's me, my sense for direction is 0.0 ;) Being inside I saw the
small 'stage' and waited for more people to arrive. Well, more people came for sure! Nobody was doing shopping anymore, all people were standing still and waited for Venice to arrive. As the guys got caught up in a traffic jam, they arrived an hour too late. But well, really worth waiting for! The sound was pretty pretty loud, almost got deaf, but further it was a great little show! Songs played were Think Again, Father Time, Welcome... and If I Were You. And again it was with the whole band. After the show I gave Pat the booklet for Rich. He gave it to Rich and pointed me out to him. After that Rich came my way to thank me personally. Also Mark thanked me for his booklet, 'cause he didn't do that in Groningen and he might felt guilty for that? Nah, just kidding. After that to the meet & greet to say 'goodbye' and 'see ya tonight'. Showed the forum button and Kipp told me he read my
complete review which was in the booklet and mentioned he liked my way of writing it down and that... should I tell this... yes I will, although Kipp 'begged' me not to tell anyone ;) Anyhow, he said "your English is better than Marty's". I could see he was just joking, otherwise I would've kept this info for myself.
Okay, back to the station to catch my train to Leeuwarden. Felt so good to have a ticket with a seat number. So no 'fighting' for the best place in the house, but just being able to walk inside in a normal pace, finding your chair and sitting down. My seat on row 1 gave me a great view, nothing to complain about! About the show, first I have to say that the sound was better than in Groningen. Vocal harmonies were better hearable, great
acoustics. The setlist was slightly different too, 4 'new' songs compaired to Groningen. Rivers Never Run, The Family Tree, Cool Me Down and... Unbreakable Heart! Much more joking around inbetween the songs and... luckily the audience also got out of their seats! Also in Harmonie no checking of bags, so got my camera inside and even was allowed to use flashlight. I'm very curious of how my pics did work out. Scored a playlist after the show. Pete was joking around and saying something like "why are you guys always bugging me, I'm much too busy and you never give me anything in return" Before I even realized it I answered with "hey, I gave you a booklet, didn't I" He said "o yeah, you did, thanx!" During the signing session I had my press photo of De Volkskrant newspaper signed. Ordered that pic straight from the photographer and the guys went like "Wow, where did you get this press photo!" and "Will you please sent a scan to Matt, so he can put it on the site" Okay guys, I will ;) Also explained Kipp why the province Friesland is pronounced with both a 'd' at the end and without the 'd'. It's because Friesland is bilingual. In Dutch it's 'Friesland' and in Fries it's 'Fryslân'.
More extended review, soon on my homepage.
